Enter length, width, and height above - each in its own unit - and the calculator converts everything to feet, multiplies, and reports the volume in cubic feet plus cubic yards, cubic meters, cubic inches, liters, and US gallons. The quantity field multiplies the result for identical items.
Formula
All three dimensions are converted to feet before multiplying. A chest 4 ft long, 3 ft wide, and 30 in tall (30 / 12 = 2.5 ft):
One cubic foot equals:
| Unit | Amount |
|---|---|
| Cubic inches | 1,728 |
| Cubic yards | 0.037 (1/27) |
| Cubic meters | 0.02832 |
| Liters | 28.32 |
| US gallons | 7.48 |
The formula covers box shapes only - split an L-shaped space into boxes and add the results.
